Chateau du Ludaix
The chateau can sleep up to eighteen people in seven suites and we also have cots for babies. One wing of the chateau is retained by the owners so that they are on hand to help make your holiday as enjoyable as possible.
The
extensive accommodation comprises:
Ground floor , hall, dining room, kitchen, living room, library.
Hall
Should you feel the need for a chilled sauvignon blanc in the middle of the day, there is a wine fridge for your exclusive use.
Dining room
This is one of the most beautiful rooms in the chateau with its black and white marble floor and antique venetian mirrors which reflect the hundreds of candles illuminating the room whilst you dine.
Kitchen
Newly fitted and compact, the kitchen is well equipped with three fridges, a range cooker, microwave and dishwasher. There is extra freezer space available in one of the cellars.
Living room
A lovely south facing room with comfortable sofas, an open fire place and a refectory length table for informal dining.
Library
This is a quiet space to use as a second sitting room with a small tower room opening off it where the visiting masseur can offer you wonderful treatments.
First floor
On this floor there are four suites.
The Suites
The Leopard Suite
This consists of a lovely large south facing bedroom with polished oak floors, antique french furniture and a large half tester bed. The whole suite including the bathroom is decorated with leopard print and there is a small balcony room off the main bedroom which contains a single bed.
The Tower Suite
This consists of two bedrooms the Francesca with a double bed and the Fleur de Lys with two single beds. Both rooms open into a small tapestry hung sitting room and from there into a circular tower bathroom.
Mama's Suite
This has two single beds and a small sitting room with a daybed in one of the round towers with a shower room and separate toilet. There are beautiful views to the two hundred year old cedar tree in the side garden.
Romeo Suite
This suite is so named because it has its own little balcony where at night you can admire the illuminated church spire in the village and by day the amazing cedar tree. The en suite has a bath with an overhead shower.
Second floor
This floor has three bedroom suites as well as a large dance studio.
Art Deco Suite
Everything in this suite dates from the Art Deco period of the 1920’s and 1930’s. This style was very popular in France and the owners are passionate collectors of this period. The suite has a double bed, a sitting area and a shower room with power shower.
David Lawson Suite
This suite with its half tester bed and toile de jouey hangings has a small room off it with a French day bed suitable for a child. The bathroom is in one of the round towers and overlooks the side garden. This suite is named after a writer friend who used to come to the chateau to gather inspiration for his books.
Henri Suite
This lovely suite whose walls are decorated with yards and yards of blue and white fabric has a round tower sitting room with a white fur carpet. The shower room has a power shower and the views from the windows are of the ancient cedar tree.
The Dance Studio
This forty foot long wooden floored studio has a wall of mirrors at one end and a barre running around three sides. The former owner of the chateau was the famous French ballerina Ghislaine Thesmar and she used the studio on a daily basis whenever she was in residence. Today it is used as a large games room during the summer and has table football, table tennis and various keep fit equipment for use by visitors.
Rental price of the chateau
- High season £4,600 per week
- Low season £3,950 per week
High season is July and August and the two weeks of Christmas and New Year.
Maid service is available by arrangement for a small supplement.
Food is available on request.
